About us
Munster Technological University (MTU) has a long and hard-earned reputation for being student centric; our students matter. We are proud of our academic standards and associated rigour of our academic quality assurance. As a Learning Organisation we are conscious of the need to keep moving and innovating in response to an ever evolving higher education system. MTU is committed to improving student engagement and success and recognise the transformative potential of student-faculty partnership in pursuit of this goal.
Recognising the need for all staff, at all levels, to continue developing and implementing actions to improve and enhance the student experience, MTU established an Institute Strategic Student Engagement Initiative in September 2012.
Attached to the Office of the Registrar and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the focus of the Student Engagement Office is to work with academic faculty, school and department staff and student services to review best practices to date, explore current issues, develop proactive and collaborative strategies appropriate to need and facilitate implementation with a view to significantly improving student engagement, progression and successful graduation.
The development of the Student Engagement Office is informed by on-going desk research, consultation with MTU management, consultation and collaboration with academic faculty and student support staff, consultation and partnership with students and their representatives and consultation with internationally recognised experts in the field of student engagement and retention.
AnSEO - The Student Engagement Office sits alongside the Teaching and Learning Unit and Arts Office in MTU's emerging Centre for Enhancement of Learning and Teaching.
