Skills at ALC is a Learning Development programme based at AnSEO – the Student Engagement Office. We work with your lecturers and with you to develop flexible, relevant learning resources that allow you to plot your course through university with confidence.
We offer in-lecture workshops on a range of skills and competences including, for example, presentation skills, groupwork and all aspects of academic and technical writing. We also regularly run workshop series open to all students covering similar themes.
We offer one-to-one supports in Writing and Assessment Skills and in IT Skills. If you would like to avail of these, you can book your session through the Academic Learning Centre timetable.
As you progress through university, you can engage with Skills at ALC to build strategies that will enable you to achieve your personal learning aims. Some key competences we work with you on include academic and technical writing, presentation skills, effective group work, study management, and assessment and exam preparation, among others.
