Now that you have started college, it is time to get acclimatised and organised for study.

This list should help you on your way!

  • Set Yourself Up For Success
Getting a good degree is going to involve some hard work, by starting your study routine early you will find getting to grips with college coursework earlier. Keep an eye open for Academic Learning Centre (ALC) events that will be held throughout the college year for more tips on studying at third level.
  • Boost Your Learning with the ALC
The ALC is here for everyone — whether you’re thriving or finding things tough. From subject supports and study skills to one-to-one academic success coaching, the ALC can help you build confidence and reach your goals.
  • Use The Library
From study spaces to subject guides, ebooks to online databases... the Library offers so much more than just books.
  • Get Familiar with Your Timetable
Access your timetable and check it regularly to find out where you are supposed to be. Unfortunately, during the first few weeks of the semester timetables can change so it's always best to check until things settle down.
  • Get Involved
There is more to college than studying, join a Club or Society to meet new people while doing something fun.
  • Think Long Term
Chatting with the MTU Careers Service will allow you to set long term goals, remember coming to college is the beginning of your career.
  • What's Available To You
There are many MTU Student Supports & Services which you can avail of as an MTU student. Check them out, they are really useful!
