The Department of Mathematics on MTU's Cork Campuses has developed an exceptional e-learning tool for students, named 'Maths Online', accessible via Canvas. For round-the-clock access to Mathematics resources, all year round, simply log on to Canvas and register for 'Maths Online'!
'Maths Online' comprises an array of vital topics like Algebra, Statistics and Probability, Functions, Trigonometry and Calculus. Additionally it equips learners with diverse tools to aid their understanding or Mathematics including vidoes, interactive workbooks, exercises with solutions and quizzes.
If you can't see Maths Online in your module list, you may need to self-enrol. Please see below for instructions or contact us on AcademicLearningCentre@mtu.ie for more information.
How do I self enrol in Maths Online?
To self enrol on Maths online please follow the steps below:

| Then click on 'all modules' |  |
| Click on 'Browse more modules' on the top right. |  |
| Search for Maths Online in the search bar |  |
| Find Maths Online and click 'join this module'. |  |
What other online Maths resources are there?
www.mathcentre.ac.uk, this website has a range of maths resources including videos and online exercises on Matrices, Vectors, Differential Equations and Complex Numbers.
www.mathtutor.ac.uk, this is a very user-friendly maths website. It is particularly relevant to first and second year students. It covers topics including Algebra, Trigonometry, Differentiation, Integration, Functions and Vectors. It contains notes, videos and online tests
www.statsoft.com, a comprehensive array of numerous statistical terminology. This is a website on a range of topics in statistics up to a fairly advanced level of statistics.
www.sosmath.com, has notes on topics including Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Differential Equations, Complex Variables, Matrix Algebra and Laplace Transforms can be found here.
http://mathworld.wolfram.com, an extensive maths website for all maths learners up to postgraduate level.
www.khanacademy.org, Khan academy has a wide selection of short maths videos which are very popular among student
www.shodor.org/interactivate/dictionary, this is a maths dictionary.
www.statstutor.ac.uk, this is a statistics support website with some online tests. It has material on topics including Probability Distributions and ANOVA.
Who is eligible to use the service?
Maths Online is available to all students at CIT
How much does it cost?
Nothing! It’s free.
Is the service available on computers outside the Institute?
Yes, you can log on to Maths Online from any computer with internet access
What do I need to access the service?
You will need a Canvas account. Once you have a Canvas account, Maths Online can be added to your module list by self-enrollment.
What exactly will the service provide for me?
Maths Online is an extra resource to help you with your learning of mathematics containing a range of materials including notes, exercises and quizzes. It also contains a range of tools to help you communicate with instructors and with your fellow students.
All first year students taking a maths or stats module will automatically be enrolled to use Mathsonline. Please scroll down in your list of modules to find Maths online non-credit course. Mathsonline may be at the very end of your module list. If you can't see maths online in your module list, please contact us on academiclearning@cit.ie
