Failing your exams can be a deflating and upsetting experience. You might be feeling  disappointed and frustrated.

Remember, failing is not the end of the world, it is a hurdle.  When you fall at a hurdle, it in no way means that you can’t jump over it at your next attempt.  Please don’t be too hard on yourself; with focus, an effective study strategy and work you can put this behind you.

  • If you have failed an exam, it may be useful to talk to supportive people who will listen and guide you in the right direction.
  • Remember that revision during the summer is both manageable and achievable.  Three hours of productive work can be far more useful than six or seven hours  of staring at your notes and waiting for something to happen!
  • Use your time wisely. If you are working fulltime in the summer, ensure that you allocate sufficient time to prepare for your Autumn repeats. Try to make sure you have spare time for fun summer activities - you will often be more productive when you have some rewards to work towards.

Failure, while a bitter disappointment presents you with opportunities that have hidden positive benefits. It invites you to pick yourself up and affirm your belief in yourself, to build strength and purposefulness, the ability to deal with disappointment, to work hard and try again. These are qualities that equip you well in your life.
